Arsene Who? was the Daily Telegraphs headline when Arsene Wenger was appointed Arsenal manager on the 30th September 1996. This soon changed once Wenger had won the double in his first full season in charge. However, recently Arsenal have fallen on harder times and Arsene Wenger is coming under increasing pre sure after a 6 year drought and a poor start to Abdel Nader Jersey the season.Whatever team you support you have to have some kind of respect for what Arsene has done at the North London club. He changed everything at the club, the way they played their football, the training and the players diets which added several years on to the careers of the likes of Adams and Keown. Arsene revolutionised Arsenal and changed them from a boring boring arsenal team in to arguably one of the greatest footballing teams over the last decade. When Arsenal play well, they have ability to play some majestic football to watch. They have provided entertainment not just to arsenal fans but to all fans of the beautiful game. With a mix of pace, skill and technique Arsenal have at times been unplayable and this is all down the philosophy of Arsene Wenger.Arsene was mocked back in 2002 when he publicly stated that he believed that Arsenal could go through the entire season unbeaten. Wenger was slightly premature in his belief but a year later in the 03-04 season Arsenal succeeded in becoming the first top-flight club to go an entire league season without a lo s. Arsenals unbeaten run in the premier league was ultimately halted by a 2-0 lo s away at Old Trafford. The manner in which this feat was achieved was equally impre sive. The 49 unbeaten run Deonte Burton Jersey consisted of 36 wins and 12 draws and of course no lo ses. The football was sublime and silky and the free scoring team played some of the finest football to grace the English game scoring a total of 76 goals in the premier league and over a 100 in all competitions. Wenger is Arsenals most succe sful manager regarding trophies, including 3 premier league titles and 4 FA Cups. Despite 14 consecutive years in the Champions league, this is the one cup that still eludes him. Arsenal and Wenger came closest in the 05-06 season. They played Barcelona in the final and despite losing Lehman early on to a rash red card Arsenal picked themselves up to go ahead. The final ultimately ended in defeat with a brace in the last 10 minutes by Barcelona. So the question is should Arsenal sack Arsene Wenger? If you were to look at his record over the last 6 years and the amount of trophies he has won then the answer would Josh Hall Jersey be yes. However if you look at the bigger picture and realise that this man has completely transformed Arsenal into one of the biggest and most watched clubs in the World, then the answer is no. Arsenal have one of the best infrastructures and are one of the only financially sustainable football clubs in Europe (this will bode well for the new Fifa fair play rules). Yes they have recently sold two of their biggest players but Fabregas was always going to go home and it was probably the best time for him and the club with the likes of Wilshere and Ramsey coming through. Nasri was a disappointment, but left Wenger with little choice but to eventually sell him on, not before getting an incredibly good price for a player in the last year of his contract. So Arsene has bought in replacements, Arteta and Benayoun are astute signings and should settle in quickly enough, and Arteta especially could be a key signing. Mertesacker has the experience, strength and presence that Arsenal seem to have laced since the departure of Sol Campbell. If they can keep Vermaelen fit then this will feel like Mike Muscala Jersey a new signing and alongside Mertesacker could potentially become a strong defensive partnership, of which Arsenal have lacked in recent times. Santos is a bit more of an unknown but if past history is anything to go by then he could potentially be another unknown talent that Wenger has plucked from obscurity, if not then he can hopefully provide competition to Kieran Gibbs. Gervinho looks a real cla s act, a winger who can take players on with speed, skill and confidence and can also score something which arguably has been lacking since the days of Ljungberg and Pires. So how bad are things at Arsenal Ricky Rubio Jersey ? Not very, it is true they are struggling at the moment but it is very early days. They have one of the greatest managers in football at the helm. They have an owner who has had previous succe s with sports teams. They have a fantastic stadium and financially they are very comfortable. The squad they have looks on paper to be a definite top four squad. They have to start winning and soon to appease their supporters and the media. However if anyone can guide them through this tricky transformation my money would have to be on Monsieur Wenger. |
